In 1763 Pontiac's Rebellion against the British begins in what is now Detroit, Michigan


In 1843 the first Japanese immigrant arrives in the United States. He is a 14 year old fisherman named Manjiro who was on a whaling ship.


In 1896, American criminal H.H. Holmes, who was considered the first known serial killer in the United States, was hanged; he confessed to 130 murders, though some believe the real number exceeded 200.


In 1915 a German Submarine sank the Lusitania this would lead to the US entering World War I


In 1945, the German High Command signed an unconditional surrender to the Allies, bringing the war in Europe to an official end. 


In 1984, Vietnam Veterans who had been exposed to Agent Orange during the war win a $180 million dollar settlement from several chemical companies for their injuries.


In 1992 the 27th Amendment was ratified that prevented a current Congress from voting itself a pay raise. This amendment had been proposed 203 years earlier.
